There wasn’t much that Danica Fuller did not do Saturday against Whitko for the Heritage Patriots. The Patriots’ leadoff hitter finished the contest with the three most difficult parts of the cycle complete, missing only the single and she also struck out 13 while allowing just two hits to earn the victory.
Whitko scored all their runs early, highlighted by a home run by Cassidy Skinner in the third inning.

Facing a deficit and knowing she had been called out on strikes in her first at-bat, Fuller was near perfect from that point on. She hit an inside-the-park home run to lead off the bottom of the third and proceeded to strike out nine of the next 15 batters she faced without allowing a hit or a run.

Fuller then tripled in the fourth inning to give the Patriots the lead at 4-3 and made it 5-3 by scoring on a passed ball while Grace Guenthner stood at the plate.

Danica hit an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth in her final plate appearance.

Libby Cain and Riley Davis each had doubles, with Cain knocking in three runs and Davis scoring twice on Fuller’s extra-base hits.

Heritage will finish their regular season with a flurry, with games scheduled for the first four days of the week, including two important home games against ACAC opponents on Monday (Jay County) and Tuesday (Woodlan).
