The difference in the annual county golf match Thursday for the Bellmont Braves was the outstanding play of No. 1 Owen Minnick, who overcame a tough bogey on the second hole to finish -1 (32) with a couple birdies, including one on the final hole.
Minnick’s birdies came on the Par 4 No. 4 and the Par 5 No. 9 as the Braves beat both Adams Central and South Adams on the Majorki Nine Thursday evening.
The other standout round of the evening went to Adams Central’s No. 3, Jaden Sharpe. He drained a birdie putt on the short seventh hole and finished at +3, overcoming a string of four bogeys with a couple of pars to end his round. Sharpe’s birdie on the raised green of No. 7 was the only one of the night.
Everybody else was unable to crack 40, a common score in the threesomes with Bellmont’s Ben Binegar, Brady Malone and Carson Manley all turning in 40s. Keaton Bush and Avery Biberstein each shot 40.
South Adams’ London Warner ended his round on the fourth hole with a birdie.
Hal Ringger birdied the eighth hole for South Adams.
