There were rather few competitive games in the area on the final week of the regular season, with many teams more focused on their Week 10 opponents in the corresponding sectional than putting in a 100% effort with little left to be determined in the regular season.
Football fans can count on WZBD for full coverage of all the teams in Z-Land as the postseason, including a tripleheader of games for the opening round of sectional!
Friday night was also the first real bad-weather night of the season, and we’d like to give special recognition to the cheerleaders, who braved the wet, cold, and windy conditions to cheer on their teams.

Here’s a rundown of everything that happened Friday night:
ADAMS CENTRAL 44 WOODLAN 7
Adams Central held Woodlan to just eight first downs and 190 yards of offense on 50 plays as they dominated their final regular season game.
The Jets converted on all four possessions in the red zone and did not commit a penalty in perhaps their cleanest game of the season.

SOUTH ADAMS 49 SOUTHERN WELLS 8
The Starfires used a Week 9 matchup with one-win Southern Wells just as one might expect, spreading the ball around and limiting chance of injury to gain an early lead and get out of Poneto as quickly as possible. The Stars will focus solely on Churbusco after their 49-8 win over the Raiders.
Sty Pyle had the most touches at just nine, finishing with 57 yards and a touchdown. Wes Summersett scored twice and gained 81 yards on just five touches.

Zaden Baumer was 3 of 9 as the Starfires elected to play the weather and keep the ball on the ground.
The bulk of Southern Wells’ 135 yards came on a 69-yard run by Adam Aulbach. Ryker Dollar scored for the Raiders in the third quarter.

EAST NOBLE 47 BELLMONT 0
Driving rain for much of the first half made for a miserable fan experience and it played right in the hands of the East Noble Knights, who used their superior ground game to pummel the Bellmont Braves, who conceded any thought of a rushing attack with no healthy backs left.
The injuries left Charlie Faurote as the sole source of offense and the EN secondary had a field day, keeping the sophomore quarterback from his usual completion percentage, using the conditions to an additional advantage.

The Braves looked to have broken the shutout, but Ethan Butler’s rumble toward the goal line on 4th and goal from the 2-yard line on the final play of the game was ruled short, preventing the senior from having a nice moment on Senior Night.
