The final night of the regular season for high school volleyball was Thursday night, but it was the impending showdowns that were in the back of everyone’s minds in Z-Land.
South Adams and Southwood, the top two teams in 2A in Indiana, are set for a first-round Thursday showdown in Wabash, while Adams Central sits on the other half of the bracket, thankful for a good draw.
In 3A, many fans are salivating over a rematch between Heritage and Bellmont.
First things, first, our final weeknight review for high school volleyball of the 2026 regular season.
Heritage 3 Bishop Dwenger 0 (No score reported)
Maya Ehrman had ten kills as the Patriots moved to 27-2 with their 22nd win in a row, beating Bishop Dwenger in straight sets.
“We came out swinging, but Dwenger kept digging to keep some long rallies going,” noted Heritage coach Shelly Schwartz, whose team continues to maintain a spot in the Top 20 in Indiana. At #3 in 3A, they remain the top-ranked team in the northern semi-state.

“We finally broke them down in the third set to win. Our outside hitters did a great job of finding holes in the defense.”
Mallory Ehrman and Kinley Galentine each had seven kills, while Grace Scheumann had twelve digs.
“It was a great end to our regular season. It’s time for the tourney and we need to get ready for a difficult sectional.”
Bellmont 3 Columbia City 0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-19)

Delta 3 South Adams 2 (23-25, 19-25, 25-23, 25-13, 15-13)
The Starfires looked in full control of Thursday’s clash with Delta, who entered at just 7-12. The Eagles won a close third set and then won the next two to stun South Adams.
Christiana Lehman led the Starfires with 14 kills across the five sets, while Reece Beitler had twelve.
The Eagles’ win will add another layer of complexity to the other half of the local 3A volleyball regional. The winner at Bellmont, whose field includes Bluffton, Norwell, Heritage and Bellmont, will face the winner of the New Castle sectional in the one-game regional.
The five-team field is a stacked one, with Delta the lowest-ranked team in the computer rankings, but any team that can beat South Adams should be considered a contender for a deep postseason run.
Southern Wells 3 Adams Central 1 (26-24, 23-25, 29-27, 25-13)
Note: No stats or other information were received by WZBD.com for this match from Adams Central.
The talented Abbie Powell was too much for Adams Central to handle as the junior tallied 22 kills to beat Adams Central in four.
