The Decatur Fire Department will hold its annual Open House next Wednesday, Oct. 7.
Hours will be 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
“Bring the whole family out for an evening of fun, demonstrations, and a behind-the-scenes look at your local fire department,” a department announcement said.

The open house will allow people to get an up-close look at the department’s new $2.5 million aerial truck.
It measures 43 feet in length, is 11 feet, 4 inches high, and weighs in at 76,000 pounds.
It can take a firefighter 100 feet into the air.
Weather permitting, the Lutheran Air helicopter will visit, landing near the station around 5:30 p.m.
Also scheduled is an auto extrication demonstration.
Those attending will be able to tour the fire station, meet local firefighters as well as Sparky the Fire Dog, and there will be activities for the youngsters.
“Come see the equipment, learn more about fire safety, and spend some time with the firefighters who serve our community,” the department said.
