Possible housing development off First St. in Decatur is still on course, albeit following some changes in plans.
The area in question extends from the Emergency Mobile Technologies (former Macklin garage) building to Jefferson St.
Three vacant lots, all owned by the city, comprise the area.
Club 720 of Fort Wayne, formerly the Resource Hub, has been involved in talks with Decatur’s redevelopment commission and city officials about residential housing development of the three lots.
City Attorney Anne Razo told city council at its latest meeting that Club 720 would like to take possession of the lots.
Once that is done, Club 720 would seek grants and, if successful, it would begin searching for companies to develop the land.
Club 720 was asking, Razo said, to have the city to sign a letter of intent saying the city would turn over the land should Club 720 land a grant or grants.
Matt Dyer, Abby Wilder and Tyler Fullenkamp, the three council members present (two were absent), decided to seek more information from the redevelopment commission and Mayor Dan Rickord (also absent; mayors’ conference) before going any further.
So the matter was tabled until the next meeting, August 2.
