Averie Coats and Ella Ross’s perfect season came to an end Thursday night, just one match away from advancing to the site of the IHSAA State Finals (North Central High School) after a tough and competitive match at Bluffton.
Taking on the duo of Sophie Eisenhut and Emily Drayer, it was a rematch between the two doubles teams, with Coats and Ross using a comeback to win in three sets in the regular season.
The first set went, as expected, to a tiebreak and it was the Bluffton pair who finally broke through with the first set in a 9-7 scoreline.

The season then came to an end for the Bellmont pair with a 6-4 loss in the second set.
Norwell’s Macie Saalfrank advanced to the regional, which is still held at North Central despite the misleading name on Saturday.
