Cooper Laukhuf asked all the questions Thursday night and the South Adams Starfires didn’t have any answers.
Laukhuf struck out ten of the 20 batters he faced and had three hits as the Whitko Wildcats knocked South Adams out of the state tournament in a short, 15-1 game.
South Adams had just two singles – an RBI hit by Brendon Sprunger in the fourth and a one-out single by Derek McKean in the fifth.
Laukhuf got through the first two innings with six swinging strikeouts.

The Starfires’ starter, Jax Wanner, did not record an out and no Starfire hurler got more than four outs in the game. All four surrendered multiple runs in the losing effort.
The Starfire record for 2026 will go in the books as 11-14 and Whitko will advance to the sectional championship game against Bluffton.
