Janet Louise Hoffman, 94, of Hoagland, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026. Born on November 4, 1931, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Agnes (Scheumann) Hockemeyer.
She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran, Gar Creek, and then became a long-time and active member of the St. John Lutheran, Flatrock, Church, Monroeville. She then went on to graduate from New Haven High School.

Janet was united in marriage to Calvin (Cal) Hoffman on October 23, 1955, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Gar Creek. They were married for 70 years before Cal’s passing on December 27, 2025.
She was a very active at Flatrock, serving on the Altar Guild, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and assisted with many activities in support of Flatrock’s Christian Day School. She also sang in the church choir for many years.
During the Korean War, Janet worked at Magnavox, and through her married life, she spent many hours supporting the family and the chores associated with their farm. The family cottage at Lake George was one of her favorite places to relax and remind her family of the many blessings from our Loving Lord.
Many people benefited from her homemade, hand-cut noodles and she genuinely enjoyed making the noodles for family and friends. She loved her family and had an extra special place in her heart for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Michael (Kathleen) Hoffman, Larry (Debra) Hoffman, and daughter, Diane (Kevin) O’Keefe. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Kendall (David) Kincaid, Adam Hoffman, Jacob Hoffman, Ryan (Kirstin) Hoffman, Samuel (Hope) Hoffman, Chelsea (Brian) Rueschhoff, Austin Salsbery, and her great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Adaline, Eli, Ava, Reagan, Charlie, Laney, Noah, Lilah, and Calvin.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Lauren Hoffman, and her brother, Karl Hockemeyer.
A funeral service for Janet will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 2026, at St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock in Monroeville, Indiana, with Pastor Douglas Christian officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Flatrock.
Family and friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Preferred Memorials can be given to St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock, or Concordia Theological Seminary.
