Decatur’s annual Germanfest celebration is moving up on the city’s summer events calendar this year, while the Decatur Sculpture Tour and Connor Brite’s Wildflowers fundraiser will be held on the same day again this summer.
Germanfest, held in the past in August, will be be staged this year on Saturday, May 30, according to a report Decatur’s community coordinator, Jamie Gephart, recently gave to city council.

It will be the Decatur Chamber’s ninth annual Germanfest celebration held, of course, on the Madison St. Plaza.
The opening event, keg tapping, is set for 6 p.m.
No admission will be charged.
Meanwhile, Gephart said the sculpture tour and the Wildflowers event are scheduled for Saturday, June 13, downtown and on the plaza. The latter will be opening about the time the sculpture tour is concluded.
This will be the 15th year for the sculpture tour and the fifth annual Connor Brite Wildflowers celebration.
Council gave its approval for all three events, plus the June through August summer concert series.
