Bellmont sophomore Mary Bleke captured the NE8 shot put title Friday at Huntington North.
After missing the end of last season with an injury that kept her from competing for the title as a freshman, Bleke didn’t even need her season best to take first place in the event.
She finished just short of 38 feet, which is better than any other female thrower from Adams County this season.
Landon Sielschott had a nice night for the Bellmont boys, matching his career best in the pole vault and setting a new personal mark in the 800.
