The Bellmont Braves and Leo Lions made an impromptu afternoon decision Wednesday to relocate their game from Decatur to Leo, but the advantage of playing as the home team was not enough to overcome a great pitching performance by the Lions’ ace, Leah Shappell, as she led the visitors (or the home team?) to a 6-2 NE8 win.
Shappell struck out six and allowed just two earned runs for the victory.
Isabelle Buuck drove in both runs against Shappell with two outs as the Braves answered an early 2-0 lead by Leo.
Shappell allowed just four hits over the next five innings to earn the victory.

Adi Radecki started the game and kept the Braves in the game early. She allowed a pair of runs again in the fourth inning and once more in the sixth to take the loss.
Isabelle Buuck threw the final inning in relief for Bellmont.

Chevelle Oetting had the only extra-base hit for the Braves, a double in the fifth with two outs and the bases empty.
The loss stops the momentum the team had built with a big win at Huntington North Monday, dropping the season record to 4-8.
