Chase Baker birdied old No. 2 and old No. 9 to overcome three bogies for a medalist round of 37, shared with Huntington North’s No. 3, Ceaten Brubaker, as the Vikings beat the Bellmont Braves in the rain Tuesday, 156 to 162.
Baker played consistently and avoided any doubles, playing cleanly despite the increasing pace of the rain on a night when all the other sporting events in the county were canceled.

The Braves got a 41 from Sam Shifferly and 42s from Jacob Binegar and Kade Cutler, but the four Braves’ scorers (all sophomores) were just short of the Vikings, who put three in the 30s. Shifferly finished the final three holes at one under for a nice finish to the night.
Senior Jack Johnson had a solid round for the JVs with a 47 for Bellmont.
The loss drops the Braves to .500 at 2-2 in the conference.
