FORT WAYNE – After scoring three runs in the top of the first, it looked like the Heritage Patriots were well on their way to another victory and an 8-1 mark.
At one point in the bottom of the first, it felt like the Patriots were never going to get out of the inning and the entire season was in peril.

In the end, the Patriots made a pitching change, labored through the inning and managed to somehow give up just four runs.
They never looked back after that.

Jaxon Feasby got a double play and eventually got out of the long inning, then allowed just two more hits in five additional innings or work without allowing a run.

Lucas Taylor pitched a scoreless inning after Feasby threw 73 pitches in his six innings of work.

The Patriots might never have given up the lead in the bottom of the first if it weren’t for a smart defensive play to catch a runner and escape the inning on a double steal attempt.
Taylor drove in two with a double in the second and the Patriots scored twice more in the third with the bases loaded on a groundout and a wild pitch.

Garrett Oliver and Kingston Galentine both had big RBI hits later in the game. The team finally pushed the lead to 10 runs on Oliver’s two-run single.
The Patriots are back in action against Southern Wells Thursday night.
