DECATUR – A lack of playing time for the Bellmont Braves did not give them any extra help in their NE8 opener against East Noble as the Knights took out a 4-1 victory Tuesday night.
Allison Shearer overcame a loss in a first-set tiebreak against Bellmont senior Lilyana Suarez, then won the final two sets at love-love.

The lone winner for the Bellmont Braves was at No. 1 doubles with senior Ella Ross and junior Averie Coats. They battled the wind well and overcame an excellent return game by EN’s Kayona Linthicum to win in straight sets.

The Braves were set to have a good day of practice Wednesday before hosting South Adams Thursday for an important county rivalry match. That meeting will start a run for the team, with additional matches Friday (against Dwenger) and Saturday (against Luers).
