The first game of Audrey Barnes’ head coaching career at South Adams was a nervy one as the Starfires went scoreless with the Blackford Bruins through five innings, but solid pitching by Shelby Weigel kept the team in the game until Reagan Bollenbacher broke the game open with a bases-loaded single, sparking the team to a 4-0 win.
Weigel held the Bruins to just three hits in the game and looked in full control once the Stars took the lead, allowing just one baserunner (a single) the rest of the way. Weigel struck out eight and walked just two to earn the victory.

The two-run single by the catcher Bollenbacher was her only hit of the night, but it was the most important moment of the contest. It was set up by the third hit of the night for Avery Brown, who finished the night a perfect 4-for-4.
Reece Beitler also had an RBI single for the Stars, who start the year 1-0.
