The bump up from 2A to 3A due to the Success Factor for Adams Central football has created a ripple effect in local high school football. That’s the takeaway from the IHSAA’s announcement this week of the new two-year sectional assignments for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.
The local 3A sectional becomes much more local than the previous version, with Adams Central and Bluffton both joining the traditional schools.
3A Sectional #27: Adams Central, Bellmont, Bluffton, Concordia Lutheran, Garrett, Heritage, Norwell, Woodlan
The Jets will end up playing three potential sectional opponents in the regular season with ACAC members Bluffton, Heritage and Woodlan on the schedule.
Bellmont, however, will face a regular season where the only sectional opponent they see in the regular season will be rival Norwell.
South Adams will also see a vastly different field in 1A with the shakeup from the new enrollment figures. They’ll join back up with Southern Wells in a sectional that stretches all the way from Fremont to Wabash to Poneto.
1A Sectional #44: Churubusco, Blackhawk Christian, Fremont, Northfield, South Adams, Southern Wells, Southwood, Whitko
