The Adams County Commissioners have approved a request to add more security officers at each courtroom at the Adams County Courthouse. Sheriff Dan Mawhorr made the request Tuesday, citing concerns about safety around each courtroom. Mawhorr told WZBD’s Ed Thurman that the need is great in Adams County…
Mawhorr said 89 of Indiana’s 92 counties have metal detectors at the entrances to each courthouse, but Adams County is one of the three that does not. Sheriff Mawhorr would like to change that as soon as possible.
Also Tuesday, the County Commissioners approved the hiring of an additional Deputy Prosecutor in Adams County to help Prosecutor Jeremy Brown keep up with the load of cases facing his office. The new Deputy Prosecutor will be full time. The three current Deputy Prosecutors are all part time.
