On January 7, 2026, I officially filed my paperwork at the Adams County Clerk’s office to seek the Republican nomination for Adams County Council District 2 seat in the upcoming May 5, 2026 primary election.
I began serving on council in August of 2024. I was voted in by my fellow Republicans in a special caucus to replace the late Councilman Rex Moore. It was an honor for me to take over Rex’s council seat since we were good friends.
Since my time on council, I have enjoyed working with my fellow council members and commissioners. I also enjoy talking and working with all of the county department heads and employees. I have always believed that communication is the backbone to good leadership.
In my years as the Decatur Police Chief, I developed and oversaw million dollar police budgets. This has given me the opportunity to be a qualified member of the county’s financial governing council. I was fiscally responsible with the taxpayers’ money back then and I still am today.
Last year during the 2026 county budget discussions, council members, Auditor Tony Mellencamp, and all of the department heads worked hard to put together and pass a fiscally responsible budget that would still maintain professional services, infrastructure improvements, and public safety to Adams County residents. I was proud to be a part of that accomplishment. The 2026 budget, in comparison to the 2025 budget, was only
a 1.8% increase.
I have been a lifelong Adams County resident, and this is where I started my own family, and was also a dedicated 30 year Police Officer and retired as Chief of Police, I consider myself to be a person of integrity with conservative leadership qualities. There is more work to be done and challenges ahead, which is why I want to continue being
on council representing District 2. I look forward to all of those incoming challenges and working with my fellow council members to keep Adams County on the path to success.
I am asking for your support to be your voice to help grow and build a stronger and safer Adams County.
Thank you!
Leonard Corral, Jr.
