Traffic in Stratton Addition in Decatur again this year will be limited to one way Friday on trick-or-treat night, a highly-endorsed safety factor.
City council heartily approved the proposal at a recent meeting, a request brought to it by Nan Everett, representing the housing addition’s Home Owners Association (HOA).

This will mark the third year for the one-way restriction, which will be in effect from 5 to 8 p.m.
Trick or treating will be observed from 5:30 to 7:30.
“It’s for the safety of the kids,” Everett said. “There are tons and tons of traffic (on that night.).”
Police Chief Kevin Gerber agreed. “It creates a much safer (environment),” he said.
Everett also asked if a police officer could be in the addition during the trick/treat event.
“We’ll get you one,” Gerber replied.
