Calls for service to the Decatur Police Department held steady in August from the previous month, then decreased in September.
The department reported that 1,295 calls for service were received in August, just two more than in July.
Then, in September, calls fell to 1,015, a drop of 280 from the prior month.
Calls for the first nine months of total 10,525, an average of 1,170 per month, according to the department’s report.
The calls include a mix of emergency and non-emergency responses, including, but not limited to, traffic stops, traffic-related criminal offenses, vehicle accidents, and a variety of other traffic related concerns, the report said.
The number also includes property crimes, crimes against a person(s), and long-term investigations as well as non-criminal issues such as, VIN (vehicle inspection number) checks, civil disputes, animal complaints, vehicle unlocks, and neighbor complaints.
