Dakota Sprunger and Ethan Crockett represented Adams County runners in the top five of Saturday’s Delta Sectional, won by Norwell as a team, with Sprunger’s runner-up finish leading the Starfires to a regional berth as a team.
Difficult conditions led to slower times, especially among those who had competed just a week prior, but Dakota Sprunger was just off his season best by a few seconds to set himself up for another run at the State Finals.
Bellmont took sixth, sorely missing Maddux Miller, but they still managed to get four members of the team out, with Logan Whitacre surviving as the last man in with a time of 18:41.
Phillip Bayer ran a season best for Adams Central.
Crockett was the only runner to advance to regional for the Jets.
