Jamison Roach threw four strong innings and left the game with a 10-3 lead as the Jets stumbled but did not fall late, holding on to beat Blackford, 12-9, as baseball got back underway across the area after two long days off because of recent rains.
Roach allowed just two hits and struck out six, but he was replaced in the fifth and things got rather iffy for the Jets. Three different pitchers recorded one out each in an inning where the Bruins scored six times to claw their way back into the game. Ethan Funk got the final out and then pitched a scoreless sixth to settle down the game.
Cade Van De Weg came in and closed out the game for the Jets, earning the save with a clean inning.
Funk also had a great night at the plate with three hits and three runs knocked in. Joey Everett also knocked in three with three hits, scoring three times.
The Jets will wrap up their regular season with a home game against Blackhawk Christian Friday.
