Once title favorites to win the ACAC after a 3-2 win over South Adams at the end of April, the Heritage Patriots saw their title chances disappear this week with an 11-1 loss at Jay County Thursday and a 6-4 loss against Bluffton Friday.
The Patriots played just 4.5 innings Thursday in Portland as Jay County clubbed 13 hits, scoring five in the first inning and four more in the second.
Danica Fuller took the loss, allowing all eleven runs (ten earned) and striking out six.
Mallory Winner was the winning pitcher for JC, giving up just one run on six hits.
Abriyah James had two singles for Heritage.

In Friday’s contest against Bluffton, Heritage never led, falling behind early 2-0 to the Tigers.
The Patriots were able to bring the game back to even in the fifth when Danica Fuller scored on a groundout, but Bluffton scored twice more in the top of the next inning and went on to the victory.
Fuller threw the first two innings for Heritage, giving up the two runs, while Hadlee Shipp threw the last five, taking the loss while striking out six.
The Patriots will attempt to stop their skid Saturday at Whitko before facing a very tough test Tuesday at Woodlan.
