An eight-run inning helped the Bellmont Braves require just five innings from Bella Ashley and the sophomore responded with a one-hitter to give the home team an 11-0 win in the NE8 Monday.
Ironically, the no-hitter was never an option, with Cassidy Johnson leading off the game with an infield single. Ashley was outstanding from thereon, walking just one of the next 13 batters. An infield error on a ground ball by what would have been the final batter of the game was quickly forgotten when Ashley struck out the next opponent on four pitches to seal the victory.

Emily Bleke hit an inside-the-park home run in the second inning to score Carissa Mickley and Finnley Godsey followed suit, smacking her own inside-the-parker to right field in the third.
Taylor Sutter finished the night 3-for-3 at the plate with three singles and three RBIs.
The Braves will play Bishop Luers in a bit of a rivalry game Tuesday night before hosting DeKalb in another NE8 clash Wednesday.
