Jay County, Bluffton and Woodlan dominated this year’s ACAC Track & Field meet, but the Heritage Patriots and South Adams Starfires still had their highlights.
Kapri Bixler and Ana Lehman both claimed conference crowns, while DiNestee Williams-White and Alexa Walter showed their versatility for the Patriots.
Walter, in particular, showed talent in a rare combination: She was .07 seconds away from winning the 100 M Dash and the shot put.
The girls teams have just a week and a half before the IHSAA Sectional on May 10th.
Notes & Times:
-Ava Johnson (Heritage) ran a season best in the 100 prelims.
-DiNestee Williams-White ran the fastest 200 time of any girl in our Z-Land coverage area in 2025 in the prelims (27.78). She finished sixth with a slightly slower time in the final. Williams-White also had a great time in the 400 (also the best in Z-Land this year) and won the event.
-Heritage’s Rosalinda Medina also ran a season-best time in the prelims, going 28.73 in the 200.
-Olivia Lybarger’s time in the 400 was the best of his career as she took fourth for the Patritos in 1:03.96.
-Ava Smith (Heritage) was sixth in the 800 with a new career best that was way faster than her career PR to that point.
-Smith had been searching all year for a sub-six mile and she accomplished that feat with ease, cutting 15 seconds from her PR and finishing the 1600 in 5:50.
-Williams-White and Lybarger were the common denominators on the Patriots’ runner-up finish in the 4×100 and the winning time in the 4×400. Both were season-best performances for Heritage this season.
-South Adams’ Ana Lehman beat out teammate Kapri Bixler to win the long jump with her career best.
-Heritage’s Alexa Walter won the shot put and set a career best in the discus Friday night.
