Heading into the first postseason match in school history, the Bellmont boys’ volleyball team traveled to Blackhawk Christian to wrap up their regular season.
With just one win under their belt so far in this first season, coach Craig Krull took advantage of a Friday night match the day before Bellmont’s prom to utilize most of his regular roster and the team responded with a win after dropping the opening set, 22-25, 25-15, 25-16, 25-18.
Cam Summers put his golf clubs aside and led the team in kills with 14 before jumping back on the golf team Saturday morning for Bi-County. Senior Gavin Krull gave up his bat for the night and tallied ten kills on the court. Krull also led the team in assists with 15.
Jack Johnson also played some at setter, tallying 13 assists.
Mason Mankey led the way with 15 digs.
“We struggled with unforced errors,” noted coach Krull after the win. “But we were able to overcome those mistakes and come away with victory #2 for the program.”
Bellmont will play FW Wayne in the opening round of the South Side sectional on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The Braves fell to the Generals 3-1 last week.
