Adams County Transit – finally and at long last – has a garage for its vehicles.
The eight-bay structure is off 12th St., just west of the MERIT Center, where the Adams County Council on Aging – which oversees the transit system – is located.

The completion was announced by Michelle Lengerich, who heads both the council and the transit system.
The county purchased from the City of Decatur 7-10ths of an acre of land for the garage; an old building which was originally part of the North Adams Schools system, was demolished.
A small building nearby is used by a charitable organization and will remain in place for the foreseeable future.
Mark Wynn, the county’s planning & zoning director / building inspector, was in charge of the project.
The transit system operates eight vehicles.
