One of Decatur’s great business success stories received strong support from city council at its recent meeting.
Council approved a CF-1 form for ABCinema, the form having to do with a couple of tax abatements previously awarded the downtown theater.
The CF-1 is a form businesses which receive a tax abatement must fill out each year to demonstrate how they have complied with what they vowed to do in order to receive the abatement(s).

Abatements for real property and for equipment were awarded when the theater expanded into the adjacent building to its west.
Two original abatements, given when the theater opened, have expired.
ABCinema, owned by Corey and Barb Affolder and their family, opened nearly eight years on Monroe St. downtown. Its success story continues.
“We had over 3,000 people the last three weekends,” Corey Affolder told council on April 15.
ABCinema now has 24 full- and part-time employees.
