They may have been down a man (or maybe four or five), but the Bellmont Braves finally got that first win in school history in boys’ volleyball, beating DeKalb in four sets to get their season off and running, 25-16, 18-25, 25-23, 25-12.

The Braves were without many of their starters as most of the team is also participating in other spring sports. That opened up playing time for several boys and they made the most of it.

Without typical setter Mason Mankey, the Braves shared setting duties. Hudson Krull had six assists and Wes Hamilton had four. Luke Summers also got in on the action with two.
Easton Curtis handled the bulk of the kill attempts with Gavin Krull playing baseball and Cam Summers out on the golf course. Curtis had a great morning, going 12 for 25 on his attack attempts to lead the team in kills.

Perhaps most impressive was the way the team shared the digs statistic. Dig totals were as follows:
Luke Summers 9, Easton Curtis 9, Hudson Krull 8, Wes Hamilton 7, Xavior Palacios 6, Cayden Rauch 5, Ben Goble 1
Hudson Krull also impressed at the net with four solo blocks.
The Braves will only get 48 hours to enjoy their win before facing an extremely-talented Snider Panthers team Monday night in Fort Wayne.
