For the second time in four days, the Bellmont Braves boarded the bus Monday with a solemn mood.
After losing on a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth for an extra-innings loss to Mississinewa Friday, the Braves repeated the dubious feat Monday at Woodlan in a 7-5 loss, with Lexi Metzger breaking a 5-5 tie with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.
Emily Bleke gave the Braves an early lead with a homer to center on the second pitch of the game, reminding everyone who was present that the wind would play a vital role in the contest.
Bella Ashley pitched out of a jam in the bottom of the first and later knocked in two with a home run herself in the third to give Bellmont a 4-0 lead. Ashley struck out five and pitched the entire way for the visitors.
Finnley Godsey and Oni Krueckeberg each had doubles in the game.
The Braves’ next game will be the featured game of the day Wednesday for WZBD, broadcast live on 92.7 FM at Heritage.
