New sidewalk was being laid on N. Third St. (just south of Marshall St. in photo) Monday as part of the major project which began in Decatur last week.
The work will see nearly two miles of streets being paved and produce more than two miles of new sidewalks over a period of three to four months.
The project is concentrated in an area in the vicinity of the city pool.
DC Construction of Pendleton is the project contractor, having submitted a low bid of $1,499,410.72.
A grant of $1,456,125 was awarded Decatur via the Indiana Department of Transportation’s Community Crossing program. A 25% match, or roughly $363,000, was added by the city.
