Adams Central opened their 2025 girls’ tennis season with a close match against former sectional rival Huntington North and it was the host Vikings who won, 3-2.
The Vikes swept the singles matches in straight sets, although the match at No. 1 singles was a close one, with Melanie Bertsch doing her best to give Huntington North’s Ava Christiansen a good match, falling 6-3, 6-4.

Adams Central did take both of the doubles matches, however, despite already dropping the team match by the time they reached the third set in both.

The No. 1 team of Macy McClure and Tenley Hendricks bounced back from a loss in the second set to pick up a couple of breaks of serve and see out their win.

Meanwhile, the new doubles team of Lila Ringger and Jillian Brotherton dropped the first set, but bounced back to force a third set, which went all the way to the tiebreak, where the Jet pair picked up the win.

The match with Huntington North will be the only warm-up for coach Jessica Disinger’s team before they face one of their toughest tasks of the regular season Monday – a match against the Norwell Knights. The two teams are consistent contenders for sectional titles in Z Land.
