MAPLES – Heading into an important game against sectional rival Norwell on Thursday, the Heritage Patriots handed Wednesday’s home game against North Side to the bullpen.

They delivered.

Starting with Landri Linder, the Patriots held the Legends to just two baserunners, using three different hurlers on their way to a simple and short 20-0 victory on Monroeville Road.

With a bit of smoke making its way across the playing field throughout the contest from a neighboring field fire, the Patriots didn’t have too many other excuses to use. They scored nine runs in the first inning and ten more in the second.

Beau Stoppenhagen started it off from the leadoff position with a 3-for-3 night. He stole two bases and scored three runs.

The Patriots singled for 15 of their 17 hits as they chose not to take the extra base on most of their hard-hit balls, instead choosing to work on their hitting and base running.

Mason Abbott and Max Mirelez each had doubles for the home team.

Linder struck out two in his two scoreless innings, then Tyler Redmon struck out five in his two innings of work. Brady Boyle worked the top of the fifth and struck out all three batters he faced.
The Patriots are now 3-1 on the year heading into their showdown with the Knights in Wells County Thursday.
