A pair of six spots on the board and it was all over for the Blackford Bruins Wednesday night in Berne as they dropped a 4.5-inning game to the South Adams Starfires.
Bernard homered to center at the end of a string of three run-scoring hits, beginning with Kenzie Neuenschwander’s two-run single in the third inning.
Reagan Beitler kept the ball in play and forced a Blackford error, setting the table for Bernard’s homer.

That put the Stars up 6-0 and that score held until the next time Bernard came to the plate and this time, the bases were loaded. Bernard doubled to the gap in right center to allow all three runners to score without a throw, putting the game out of reach.
Avery Brown also had a big night, finishing 3-for-3 with a home run and a double of her own while driving in three.
Reagan Beitler threw all five innings, allowing just three hits and striking out four to help the Stars move to 5-0 on the year.
The Starfires will play at New Haven Thursday and again in a doubleheader at Norwell Saturday morning.
