A Convoy, Ohio, firefighter is scheduled to undergo surgery Monday for third-degree burns he suffered while battling a house fire this week.
Chaise Dawson is currently in Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis with third-degree burns on his right arm and shoulder, back, neck and ear, according to his wife, Olivia.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, she said he is resting comfortably, helped by a shower before his wounds were redressed. “He is still in good spirits, but is very nervous about the upcoming procedure,” she reported.
Skin grafting will be done in Monday morning’s surgery.
Convoy’s fire department and EMS were called late Tuesday morning to a house fire in the 4500 block of Lare Road, Tully Township, in Van Wert County. Mutual aid was provided by Monroeville, Wren, Payne and Van Wert departments.

While Dawson and another Convoy firefighter, Jake Hicks, were inside the structure, the fire flashed, injuring both men.
Hicks was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital. No update on his condition was available today.
Dawson was rushed to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, then on to the Indianapolis hospital’s burn center.
