An experienced Bellmont team took out a talented Jay County team Thursday evening in the season opener for the Braves, sweeping doubles play while also playing competitively against a revamped Patriot lineup in the singles.

Jay County claimed wins in straight sets at the top two singles spots, although both were extremely competitive matches. New to their singles spots, Breanna Bailey claimed her first win at No. 1 and Meredith Dirksen made her singles debut with a victory at No. 2.

Bellmont had already won the match with three quick wins when the top two singles matches finished. Junior Emma Fuelling won quickly at No. 3 singles and both doubles teams wasted little time in the cold to secure season-opening wins.

Lilyana Suarez and Ella Ross won love-love at the No. 1 doubles spot, while Alyssa Coffey and Averie Coats dropped just one game in each set in their match in the opposite corner of the Bellmont tennis complex.
