Bluffton’s Gabriella Coyne spoiled what would have been a clean sweep of Monday’s sectional finals by capturing the state berth in the breaststroke as Delta won every other event by nearly doubling up every other team in the sectional at Jay County.
Times & Notes:
-Baylee Smith (AC) took fifth in the 200 Free with a season-best time, cutting .64 from her finish at the ACAC meet.
-Annie Jackson won her third consecutive sectional title in the butterfly, breaking the one-minute mark for the first time in an A Final.
-For the first time in her career, Ella Hockemeyer broke the minute mark in the 100 Free, beating out AC’s Baylee Smith for seventh place in the A Final.
-Addison Gilbert broke her own personal record, set way back in last year’s ACAC, and finished second in the 100 Free B Final.
-Bellmont freshman Izabella Werling swam her career best 500 time in the B final and finished in fifth.
-Capping off their high school swim careers, Bellmont seniors Shaylin McCray and Madison Witte helped the 400 relay team to a season-best time of 4:11.50 to finish sixth in the A Final. Along with Tori McCullough and Ella Hockemeyer, the team went two seconds faster than their time in the prelims.
