Logan Whitacre claimed his second consecutive NE8 conference title personally and the third consecutive crown for the Bellmont program by dominating the rest of the competition at Saturday’s conference meet at Norwell.

Notes & Times:

-Bellmont finished third in the medley relay with Oliver Werling, Hudson Krull, Zayne Roop and Logan Whitacre teaming up clock the fastest time the team has recorded in at least the last five years (1:50.21). The time was more than 3.5 seconds better than any county relay team this year, set by the same foursome against South Adams last week.

-Oliver Werling was third in the IM with a time of 2:17.96. His time was the best of his career and the fastest of any county swimmer this year.

-After his standout performance in that medley relay team, Hudson Krull turned in a great performance in the butterfly with a career best 1:01.92 to take fourth place. It was, like the medley relay team, the best performance by any Bellmont swimmer in at least the last five years.

-Teammate Zayne Roop’s time should not be overshadowed in the butterfly as he also set a career best and finished one spot behind Krull.

-Goble’s great day continued as he swam a career best 500, taking sixth in the event with a time of 5:49.15. No swimmer in Adams County in the last five years has completed 20 laps in that time.
-Nearly as impressive was Samson Owen’s eighth-place time as the sophomore broke the six-minute mark for the first time in his career.
-Freshman Owen Garcia teamed up with Ben Goble, Krull and Whitacre to take second place in the 200 Free Relay.

-Oliver Werling set a new PR with his third-place time in the backstroke, finishing in 1:01.92.

-Hudson Krull came within two tenths of a second of his career best, set in last year’s sectional finals, to take second in the breaststroke. It was his best time of the season.

-The Braves also swam a season best in the final relay of the day, with the Goble brothers, Roop and Werling teaming up for fourth place.
