A recent discovery has been repaired, cleaned up and now adorns the wall of Founders Park in downtown Decatur.
Six large, lighted angels – three facing east and three facing west – are with a star on the wall in the park at Second and Monroe streets.

Craig Coshow, a member of the city’s board of works and a former city council member, recently told council that Louise Ray of Decatur had found the angels, which are four to five feet high, in a garage.
Coshow, executive director of the local Chamber of Commerce, said he was representing Ray and Cathee Graves, chief organizers of the annual Christmas tree lighting event, and was asking permission to have the angels and star placed on the wall. It was, of course, readily granted.
The angels and star join the large wreath which hangs high on the southeast corner of the wall.
Founders Park opened in 2015 following the demolition of a building.
