Bouncing back from last weekend’s two losses at NorthWood, the Bellmont Braves moved to 3-0 in the NE8 this week with two sweeps, then made the quick drive over the state line to play at Crestview.
The Braves, who are rated 25th overall in the state by Indiana Prep Volleyball, defeated all three opponents from the Buckeye state in 2-0 sweeps and set themselves up for a clash at Norwell Tuesday with plenty of confidence.
Tuesday’s match at Norwell will be broadcast live on WZBD, 92.7 FM.
The victory in the championship match against Ottawa-Glandorf also signified the 600th career victory for coach Craig Krull, now in his 21st season as a head coach.
Krull’s Bellmont program has won 19 consecutive sectional trophies and he won a sectional title at Norwell in 2005.
MaryKate Scheumann accumulated 43 kills for the Braves across the six sets. The junior remains the leader in the state in the kills department, passing the 400 mark and finishing Saturday with 420 with a 47% kill percentage.
