Bellmont did not mess around Monday against rival Adams Central, taking care of the Jets in straight sets, 25-14, 25-22, 25-19.
MaryKate Scheumann once again led the team in kills with 17. The junior leads all players in 4A in Indiana in kills.
After a poor performance in the opening set, Adams Central looked better in set two, but each time the Jets built a lead, Scheumann would come back with a kill.

The two teams put on quite a display in the middle of the set, going from 9-9 to 14-14, trading ten points in a row. Adams Central tied the set at 16, 18, 19 and 20 each, but Bellmont won the next three points, prompting a time out by coach Henry and the Braves eventually won the set 25-22.
After feeling like they had a chance to win the second, the Jets came out flat in the third and the Braves’ service game was solid, allowing the visitors to gain an 11-3 lead.

Ella Ross ended the night with a crosscourt kill to give the Braves their fourth win in a row since their loss to nationally-ranked HSE two weeks ago. Ross finished with six kills.
Alyssa Gumbel had eight kills for the Braves and a team-high 16 digs.

Lilly Selking played a big role in the Braves’ domination of the service game, leading the team with three aces.

Liz Bobay had 19 assists.

Maci Henry led the Jets in kills with six. Paige Hamilton had five.
Katie Summers (AC) and Brea Shoaf (B) had three blocks apiece.
The Braves will travel to Carroll Wednesday for a crucial game, which will be broadcast on WZBD, 92.7 FM.
Adams Central will look for another ACAC win Tuesday against Jay County.
