Heritage invoked the mercy rule Wednesday night at Garrett, beating the Railroaders 9-0 with six different goalscorers on a perfect night for high school soccer.
The victory was the first of the season for the team.
Ava Smith, Libby Cain and freshman Rosie Kyi each had a brace to account for six of the goals. Rosalinda Medina, Elise Hissong and America Garicia each contributed a tally.
Smith, Medina and Hissong are all two-sport athletes this fall, running cross country for the Patriots and doubling up on the soccer team.
Smith was credited with the assist for five of the other seven goals in the contest.
With the win under their belts, the Patriots will face the winless South Adams Starfires in Berne Thursday night.
