BELLMONT AT YORKTOWN
Our featured volleyball of the weekend was down at Yorktown, where the Bellmont Braves took on the host Tigers in the first round.
The Braves won the opening set, and then the third, but came out flat in the final set and lost in five.
The team played without setter Lilly Selking and relied on Liz Bobay for setting duties in the match. MaryKate Scheumann led the team with 21 kills. Alyssa Gumbel had 11 kills in the 20-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-21, 15-4 loss.

In the second round, the Braves seemed out of sorts in the opening two sets against Avon. The team led 19-18 early in the first, but eventually dropped the opener. They then played a disappointing second set before showing some life in a third-set victory. Avon ended the Braves’ day with a 3-1 win at 25-22, 25-15, 21-25, 25-13.
Scheumann led the Braves in kills with 16 against Avon, while the team got some help from Gracie Riggs at setter, as she came over once the JV was done to split time with Bobay.
Bellmont will play Concordia at home Tuesday.
ADAMS CENTRAL AT MADISON-GRANT
The Jets dropped their opener to the always-tough Muncie Burris Owls (25-23, 25-15), but bounced back for two wins after that.
Adams Central then drew Bluffton and won the first set against the Tigers, but had to play a third after dropping the second, 25-22.
The Jets took care of business with a 15-7 win in the decider and advanced to play Madison-Grant. Freshman Emma Hirschy had an impressive eight kills, a team high, for AC against Bluffton.
It took just two sets for the Jets to beat the hosts and head back home with a 25-16, 25-21 win over the Argylls. Hirschy once again led the team in kills with seven.
Maci Henry led the Jets with 18 digs and 18 assists against Madison-Grant.
