The Adams County Historical Society’s Dugan Museum in Decatur is finally ready for opening, officials have announced.
Extensive restoration efforts delayed the museum’s normal summer opening, but the work has now been completed and the museum will hold an Open House on Sunday, August 11.
Open House hours will be 1 to 4 p.m. and there will be no admission charge (although donations will be accepted, officials said).
The newly restored museum, 420 W. Monroe St., will also be open the following two Sundays, August 18 and 25, with the normal $5 admission price in place for those dates.
CAR SHOW: The historical society’s annual car show at the museum will be held on Sunday, Sept. 6 (Sept. 15 rain date), the same day as the St. Marys Fall Fest being held across Monroe St.
Vintage cars of 1950 and older will be on display, along with antique fire trucks and motorcycles.
Car show hours will be 1-4 p.m. and there will be no admission charge.
The first floor of the museum will open for touring during those hours.
Sno cones and popcorn will be available and door prizes will be awarded.
The registration fee for vehicles is $10. To register, contact Walt Reiter, 260-402-7540, or wpdjreiter@yahoo.com.
