It’s late June, and Adams County is about to see an increase of road work.
Though state road crews have been busy with several major road and bridge projects since early spring in the area, Adams County highway crews are about to become busy with smaller local bridge work, smaller paving projects, and chip and seal work on county roads.
During Tuesday’s Adams County Commissioners meeting, county highway officials announced that they will begin numerous chipping and sealing work on nearly 80 miles of Adams County roads over the next few weeks. County highway leaders and police agencies urge motorists to slow down in work zones to avoid accidents, as well as avoiding possible damage to your vehicle. The work is expected to begin after the 4th of July holiday weekend and last into September.
Meanwhile, officials in the Adams County Treasurer’s office are praising county property owners for their prompt payment of the spring installments of county property taxes. Treasurer Ed Dyer said as of Tuesday, nearly 98.6% of spring property taxes has been paid in Adams County, among the best such figures in the entire state.
