The final games of the regular season for this softball season were Saturday and as we at WZBD prepare for sectionals at Oak Hill, South Adams and Leo, we provide you a recap of those contests here:
Starfire Invite Semifinal: South Adams 12 Bishop Dwenger 2
The Starfires won their sixth game in a row by beating Dwenger with a walk-off, ten run-rule victory in just five innings.
Macy Pries manufactured a run in the bottom of the first to put SA up early, then the Stars exploded for seven runs in the fourth inning. By the time Macy scored again on a passed ball with two outs in the bottom of the fourth, the Stars led 8-0.

Dwenger scored twice in the top of the fifth, but Sofia Schwartz homered with one out in the fifth and Pries ended the contest with an RBI hit with two outs and the bases loaded.
Reagan Bollenbacher knocked in two runs with two hits for the home team.
Gracy Bixler threw all five innings and allowed four hits and the two runs.
Starfire Invite Final: Madison-Grant 6 South Adams 5
A very good Madison-Grant team (and a potential opponent down the road in the state tournament) spoiled the day for the Starfires with five runs in the sixth inning to turn a 5-0 SA lead into a tie game, eventually winning with a run in the seventh, 6-5.
The Starfires scored twice in the opening frame, much like they had done in the morning game, with Pries doubling and scoring. Schwartz singled in Bekah Patterson for the second run.
Patterson singled in a run and scored herself in a three-run fifth inning for the home team, who were just six outs away from winning the tournament.
The Argylls started the top of the sixth with three straight bunt singles, then switched gears and scored five times with three separate singles to the outfield to tie the game against Bixler, who pitched every inning of both games.

The Starfires’ hopes of coming back in the seventh were hampered by a double play on a sacrifice attempt.
Bixler allowed seven hits in her seven innings and walked three. Five of the six Argyll runs were earned.
Game One: Southwood 11 Adams Central 4
Southwood had ten hits but scored 11 times as the Jets issued nine walks and were never really in game one of the doubleheader against the Knights.
Lilli Jackson threw four innings and Jenna Cook threw three. Jackson had five strikeouts.
Athena Schwartz led the Jets with two hits, while Audry Eisberg and Melina Peralez each had doubles.
Game Two: Southwood 15 Adams Central 0
The Jets lost their third game in a row in a rout by Southwood in just five innings. The Knights went up 10-0 after just 2.5 innings with an eight-run third.
Adams Central had just two hits in the game – an Athena Schwartz double and a single by Melina Peralez.
AC will shake these two games off and focus on another showdown with South Adams Tuesday. That game will be broadcast on 92.7 FM.
