The Adams County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that the Adams County Health Department was recently awarded a grant for Hemorrhage Control Training Kit. The department will use the kit to expand the Stop the Bleed program, which educates school nurses to train teachers and staff through quick actions to control serious bleeding to save lives.
Holly Degitz, Adams County Clinic Director and grant writer, expressed appreciation for the ACCF providing support for the training kit. Ryan Hirschy, ACCF grants committee member, noted that the ACCF is proud to support this request for the safety of our community.
This ACCF grant was made possible through unrestricted fund sponsored by the Daniel Niblick Family Community Enrichment Fund. The fund was established in 2004.
The long, respectable history of the Niblick family is recorded back to 1866 when Jesse Niblick and John Crawford purchased the landmark store in Decatur. Since 1930, Dan Niblick, with children Harold and Mildred operated the store, referring typically to its shortened version as simply: Niblick’s. Best remembered by local residents, siblings Harold and Mildred Niblick operated the store until it closed in January of 1996.
