South Adams finished 3-3 in the ACAC last season and 7-16 overall, placing fourth in the conference. All-time great area coach Wayne Kreiger spent the last three seasons as the head girls coach at South Adams after taking over from Freeman. Freeman had coached South Adams for the nine seasons prior to that after being Eastside’s girls basketball coach from 2005-2013.
During his time at South Adams, Freeman led the Starfires to a Sectional title in 2017 with a 16-10 overall record, beating Eastside for the title before falling to Central Noble in the Regional round. Freeman had a .500 or better record in six of those nine seasons, highlighted by a 19-4 mark in the 2015-2016 season but lost to Eastside in the Sectional that year.
