An error in the bottom of the seventh inning gave Bellmont a victory in the opening game of the doubleheader with Northrop in Decatur Saturday, but the Bruins out-hit the Braves in game two to earn a twin-bill split.
The home team appeared to be down and out in the opener, trailing 8-2 after 3.5 innings, but three straight crooked numbers on the Bellmont scoreboard gave them a 12-12 scoreline after six innings and a chance to win in their last at-bat.

Keagan Martin homered to tie the game after Beau Baker doubled in the bottom of the sixth inning. Martin was one of three seniors, along with Jack Scheumann and Andrew James, to knock in three runs in the game.
Will Baker got the final four outs for the Braves to earn the win.

In the second game, Will Baker stayed on the mound and the Bruins jumped on him early, touching him for six runs in over five innings of work. Martin came on in relief and threw 1.2 scoreless innings.
Gavin Krull’s home run was the highlight of the second game for Bellmont.
The Braves have five home games scheduled for the final week of the season, beginning with a trip to East Noble Tuesday. The team’s record is 6-11.
